We have a number of venues that we commonly frequent.

To get to

  • The Old Republic Observatory (our usual venue)

  • The Planetarium

    • Go through Wits University entrance off Empire Road and ask at the boom gate.

    • You can see it from the M1 freeway; it's the building with the green coppery dome.

  • The Telescope Making Class

  • The SA Military History Museum (our ScopeX venue)

    • See map here >>

    • It is situated next to the Johannesburg Zoo, across Jan Smuts from Zoo Lake, and is a fascinating place to visit.

  • Blue Hills Observatory (the usual venue for the Quarterly Star Party)

  • Chris Middleton's farm Skeerpoort

  • Brian Fraser's plot in Henley on Klip

  • The Tswaing Crater (also known as the Pretoria Salt Pan)

    • See map here >>

    • This is one of the largest and best-preserved impact craters in the world. It is an interesting place to visit
